Community rules

NoZLan has been photographing conventions since 2009. Cosplay takes courage, time and love, and everyone who shares it here should feel safe and welcome. These rules exist for that.

1. Be kind. Always.

We have zero tolerance for bullying, mocking and body shaming. That includes comments about someone's body, weight, skin, gender, age, disability, or whether they "look like the character". Every body can cosplay every character.

2. Only share what you're allowed to share

Share photos of yourself, or photos where everyone who can be recognised has agreed to be shared. When you upload, you confirm this. Found a photo of yourself on someone's page that you didn't agree to? Choose Report → "This is me" under the photo, and a moderator will take it down.

3. No nudity or sexual content

Revealing costumes are part of cosplay and they are welcome. Tick Show blurred when you upload them: visitors without an account then see a blurred version. Nudity and sexual content are not allowed.

4. No hate

No discrimination, threats, hateful symbols or slurs — in pictures, names, bios, album titles, captions, tags or anywhere else.

5. Keep personal information private

Don't share anyone's address, phone number, school, workplace or other private details. Be careful with your own, too. We remove location data from every image you upload.

6. Be yourself

Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't pretend to speak for NoZLan. Members of the NoZLan team have a "NoZLan team" label on their page.

7. Respect other people's work

Don't upload someone else's photos as your own, and don't remove their watermark. Credit the photographer or cosplayer: they'll be asked to accept before their name shows.

8. You must be 16 or older

NoZLan accounts are for people who are 16 or older. Photos of anyone who looks younger than 16 may be taken down.

How we keep it this way

  • A person checks first. Every photo, name, bio, link, album title, caption and new tag that others can see is looked at by a NoZLan moderator before it goes online.
  • You can report anything. Every page, album and photo has a report link. The person you report will never see who reported them.
  • A moderator decides, not the number of reports. Nothing is removed on a report alone, so nobody can use reports to attack someone else. The one exception: a photo reported as showing someone under 16 is hidden right away until a moderator has looked. Reporting falsely on purpose can cost you the ability to report.
  • When a rule is broken we remove or blur the content, and depending on how serious it is we can stop someone from uploading or close their account. The member is told why, with a fixed and kind reason.
  • No comments, no private messages, no public numbers. You can give a photo a butterfly; only the person who uploaded it sees how many it got. There are no likes, followers or rankings. That is on purpose.
